The Word by Debie Misir

The Word

In the beginning was The Word
Alive, flaming, eternal, have you heard?
The Word was with God; and the Word was God
The Word became flesh, and dwelt amongst the flawed

He was perfect love, justice, purity, and holiness
Walking in our shoes, offering us his righteousness
He showed us the way, the truth, and the life
His promise; abundant life free from all strife

He came not to bring peace, but a sword
To separate the tares from the wheat; His adored
The fight is the same, for the enemy rages
But as the times unfold, the battle changes

The Word remains the same; ageless and just
The weapon of Truth in which we must trust
It is sharper than any two-edged sword
Dividing soul and spirit, until all life is restored

The Word is mighty for pulling down strongholds
It overcomes all evil, all righteousness it upholds
It is Seed; It is Spirit; It is Living Water; It is Light
It is a mirror to the soul; rendering hard hearts contrite

It searches the heart of man, revealing all
Exposing evil intents, big and small
It brings conviction of every sin to man
Leaving nothing hidden, no evil motive or plan

The Word justifies, sanctifies, and glorifies
All those who read it in joy, it purifies
For He who sends it, will not receive it back void
Until it accomplishes it's goal; until darkness is destroyed

The Word is God, portraying his character and ways
Fierce in the Lion's battle; tender in the Lamb's gaze
It brings knowledge of who He is and what He does
Revelation of what is happening now and what was

By His Holy Spirit, the Word lives and moves
Operating in multiple dimensions; every promise it proves
The Word answers every question, resolves every situation
It is brings life and growth, to all of God's creation

The Word is heaven's milk for babes in Christ
Spiritual food for the mature, there is no price
Come eat, drink; it is plenteous and free
Saturate yourself in the Word; watch the devil flee
